The Boy In Striped Pajama's by John Boyne

This book is set during WW11. Nine-year old Bruno and his family are moving from their home in Berlin so his father can help out where needed to. His father is a Nazi high general but,he doesn't know what his father does but he knows it is very important and he musn't ask questions. They move to a house near the concentration camp Aushwitz (sorry if i spelled it wrong). He meets Shmuel, a boy in the camp. Bruno is determined to play with his new friend at the other side of the gate. This is an amazing book and movie. I'd give it about a 4 1/2 star rating. This book really shows you that a nine year old during WW11 in Europe really didn't know what was happening to the Jewish people becuase even though he lived right next to one for months he still didn't understand why the people were there. I hope you look for this book the next time you go to the library or bookstore. Even if this book is in a nine year old's point of view this is NOT for anyone under age 10 or 11. (It is a good book to read if you are studying the holocaust. Just saying).

Happy Reading,
